Make a Dog Bow Tie
How handsome does Mister Kermit look in his bow tie!!
It was his birthday over the weekend and thought what does every pup want when he turns two? A bow tie of course ;) Being the good sport that he his, Kermit even posed for a mini photo shoot. Fancy making one for your pooch? Here's the tutorial.
What you need:
- a little bit of fabric
- bias binding
- needle and thread
- small bit of elastic
(Watch the video for an easy guide in how to make a dog bow tie)
Fold your fabric in half and cut out a rectangle to the size that would look good on your dog, Kermit's bow is made of a rectangle roughly 10x6cm. Fold the edge in and fold your fabric double, now stitch the sides together, this will make your bow. Measure the size of your dogs neck and cut a piece of bias binding that size minus 5 cm, those 5 cm will be done with the elastic. Cut 5 cm of elastic and sew this unto the bias binding. Fold the bias binding in half and stitch the seam together. Push the fabric of your bow tie together in the middle and wrap a small bit of bias binding around it, stitch this in place. Now attach your bow to the collar and your bow tie is finished!
I would love to see pictures of your dog(s), especially if they are sporting fetching bow ties! Send them over on Instagram, @byhestergrams Thanks!
Please only have your dog wear the bow tie when you are around, don't leave unsupervised. You never know he/she might get caught on something.
