Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in DIY, interior and lifestyle. Hope you have a nice stay!

I tiled my garden table!

I tiled my garden table!

Last week I showed you how 3 years ago I build myself a garden table, if you missed that posts go have a look here. The table has been used lots of the years and this spring I thought it was in need of a little makeover. Even though I painted the table top with a good quality paint it does get chipped over the wet winter months. Instead of painting I did something else to it and I love how the table has turned out!

It was a pretty easy makeover too, although the grouting cleaning up is a bit tedious but don’t let that put you off. The tiles are giving me Mediterranean vibes and I can’t wait for summer alfresco diners!

I made sure I ordered tiles that were the right size for my table so I didn’t need to cut them making this makeover a lot easier. The tiles I used are from Tile Warehouse and only costed me £40! They are called Seville Green and are 10x10 cm. I used a grout and fix to glue the tiles to the table and a beige grout from Unibond. I thought beige was a nice colour for outside then bright white, might be easier to keep clean too :)

The legs got a new coat of paint, I used a tin of RustOleum garden paint in the colour Homespun that I still had in the garage. I used the same colour to paint the trim that I attached to the side of the table. The trim hides the ugly sides of the tiles and makes the table look nice and neat.

For Kiki’s birthday party I made a temporary rod out of bamboo canes to hang light above the table, I loved that look so much I wanted to give the table a more permanent display rod. It’s great to hang solar lights from, bunting or even little vases with flowers. I used two poles of 1.7 meter tall for the sides, attached this to the table frame with a long screw and the horizontal piece is a wooden dowel. All these pieces are also painted in the Homespun paint. What else do you think will look on the table rod?

Now we just need the sunshine to come back as while I write this it is so grey and cold outside!!
