How to build a garden table
If you ask me what my dream garden would look like I would say a prarie style garden with a large meadow and a dining table big enough to fit 20 people around it. When we moved into our current home I finally had a terrace big enough for a outdoor dining table, not large enough for 20 people but definitly big enough for 6.
Garden furniture is expensive though, a walk through the garden centre and you will be shocked to see that an average set can’t be bought for under a thousand pounds. Time to make your own!
A basic table is very easy to build and won’t cost you more then £50 in timber, and you can make it in one afternoon. I build mine 3 years ago and it is still going strong, as you can see in the video it has seen a few different looks and it is about the get another makeover! What that will be? Come back next week to see the 3rd, and probably final, look of my garden table!!
The timber used is all outdoor treated wood
Top - 4 planks 182cm x 14,5cm x 2 cm
Frame - square wood of 5x5cm, cut to 2x153cm, 2x 50cm and 1x 40 cm
Legs - square wood of 7x7cm , the four table legs are cut to 70cm tall
The paint I used on the table is from the RustOleum Garden Paint line, the stencil is RustOleum as well.
