IKEA GUNNÖN Gazebo Hack

IKEA GUNNÖN Gazebo Hack

There is one corner of my garden that I have been neglecting since we moved in. Our garden was such a mess when we moved in that it took a long time making it look slightly decent and the back patio got left as a project for another day. It is the sunniest spot in the garden though! But with its wonky pavers it was more a trip hazard then a relax spot. But not anymore!

What do you think? I love having a little chill on my outdoor sofa now! And as you can see in the video it is a lovely spot to entertain our friends. The outdoor kitchen is small but it’s the perfect size for my Prakti wood burning stove and to make pizza’s on.

Talking about the outdoor kitchen, I wanted to make it bigger but as I set myself the challenge of only using materials I had in my garage it ended up a little smaller. It’s the perfect size though, it leaves enough space for the BBQ and for people to walk around the footstools and the gazebo stands. The kitchen is very similar to one I build for my Pallet Wood Projects for Outdoor Spaces book. If you need more instructions in how to build your own have a look in the book as it has step by step photo’s guiding your build.

I’m curious how long the reed roof will last on the gazebo, I recon a few years? When it is time to replace it I can just snip the cable ties and put a new screen on top of the gazebo. I will keep you posted!

The GUNNÖN gazebo has velcro on the top of the frame to keep the original fabric roof in place. I use that velcro to attach my curtain too that I use when the sun is signing bright into the gazebo. I just put a few pieces of self adhesive velcro on the top of the curtain. I love watching the fabric blow in the wind, giving me Ibiza vibes :D

The tiles I used in the kitchen build are by Porcelain Super store, the Pizza Box oven is by Smith-Style, the solar festoon lights are by Lights4Fun and I bought the reed rolls at Home Bargains. I got my Cotswold stone from Travis Perkins, the corner sofa is from Argos and I bought the flexible patio edging online.

I love the sleek lines of the GUNNÖN gazebo and with the reed top it gives that lounge vibe to my garden too. Are you tempted to have a go yourself too?
