It’s almost Christmas!!! Can you believe it? This year went so fast! A lot of things happened on the blog though, my first book came out, I wrote my second book (out in March), my readership grew, I got noticed by magazines and even got branded a serial hacker by Metro newspaper! It’s my fav job description to date even though it does sound a bit Dexter-esque ;)

Let’s make 2016 even a bigger year for Hester’s Handmade Home! I have a lot of new things planned for you guys for new year. I want to start making more diverse video’s, not just tutorials. You saw a little start of this last week with Hester’s Book Club, in January I will also start with Meet the Maker a new series where I will interview creative people and show their work spaces. I’m also toying with the idea of a craft travel series but don’t know if you would be interested in that, let me know!

Christmas is the time when a lot of people get creative, handmade gift are extremely thoughtful, home-baked hostess gifts are just divine and a self-made card too cute. Even the craft shy get going with paper and tinsel this time of year. I haven’t had the time to make my own cards, I send shop bought ones out, I know! Shock horror! I blame the house move ;) But I did make these cute bauble place settings. I love a nicely set table, first impressions count so make your table look inviting and even mediocre food will taste good ;)

All you need is some baubles in need of a makeover, a bronze sharpie, a paint brush and some paint. I used Annie Sloan’s chalk paint as it paint perfectly over the shiny surface, the colour I used is called Versailles a lovely earthy tone that will go well with some fresh eucalyptus or pine twigs on your table. Have a look at the video to see how easy it is to make your own.

This will be my last video of the year, I’m having a little break over the holiday period but I will be back in the new year with new videos full of craft and DIY ideas. If you miss me to much till then pop over to my Instagram to see what I’m up to or if you want to see Kermit the Dog in his Christmas outfit :)

Hope you all have a marvellous Christmas and a very happy New Year!!!

xx Hester
