How to make a baby busy board

How to make a baby busy board

Can you believe Kiki is ten months already! She’s turning into one curious girl who forever needs to be entertained. She has plenty of toys but of course all other things in the house are way better to pay with, especially baskets full of bits and hardware :) Time to make the girl a busy board!

Some people call these sensory board, I like the name busy board as hopefully it will keep her busy for five minutes so I can drink my coffee while it’s hot. Have a look at the tutorial video below.

It looks like Kiki likes it! Like I said in the video I’m not to sure about the light yet, might try to find one a bit less bright. That’s the good thing of this board you can add or swapped items as your child grows. Here I’ve used door bolts, a door stop, a brushed faceplate, a hasp and staple, little blind spot mirrors, cabin hooks, a door chain, a bicycle bell, nylon rope, zipper, bolts with washer, a caster wheel and a few more bits. You can really use anything you think your baby might be intrigued by. Just make sure it is safe to touch and remember always supervise your baby when he/she plays with the busy board.

This busy board hangs from a door to keep the room free for baby to play in, I recon you have enough toys cluttering the space as it is, without a big busy board in the middle. I used hooks to hang my board as I need something that comes off easily as my studio is being used to shoot my DIY video’s in and I need clean walls and doors. I would suggest screwing yours to the door itself so it is attached securely. Just make sure somebody knocks before opening the door :)

What does your baby like to play with? So far Kermit the Dog’s toys are way more interesting then her own basket of toys but hopefully this board will change that! There is so much to touch, explore and try to open and close for her I think this busy board will be hanging on the door for a while to come.
