Rainy day play, reusable window shapes
Need a new play idea now most weekends seem to be rainy ones? Have a look at this easy one. I ordered a few sheet of window film online, I went for the colourful stained glass A4 sheets from Brume which are £2.50 each. We spend half an hour cutting them in all different shapes and then Kiki stuck them onto the sliding door. So much fun, it kept her bust for ages and the room looks nice and colourful now!
It was such a rainy Saturday morning, one of those days were everyone is bored and as you can see in the video below even Kermit the Dog didn’t know what to do with himself, a fun craft was needed! We switched on our Yoto radio and started cutting shapes. Have a little think of what you want to create on your window. We went for a city scape, so lots of triangles for roofs, rectangles and squares for houses and smaller pieces to make windows. We also cut petal shapes for flowers, arches for rainbows and circles to create people.
What I might like best about these window film shapes is that it’s an open ended play. You can keep rearranging the shapes and create something new. Line all the film pieces up on the side of the window so your child can create something new.
Watch the video to see how easy this project is.
The rainy day turned into a very fun and colourful morning and guess what? When all the shapes were stuck on the sun started shining leaves bright coloured shapes all over the floor where the sun shone through the window.
I’m now thinking of cutting some XL shapes and fill the whole door, maybe something festive for Christmas? Let me know what you would like to create!
