Vintage lamp makeover

In need of an extra lamp for the living room I stumbled upon this vintage lamp base. It a beautiful seep brown tone, interesting shape and made from ceramic, and better still only £15!

The lamp was very dirty and in need of rewiring to be safe to use but I thought why not bring this vintage beauty back into this century and give it a wireless upgrade. I love a light I can use anywhere, no matter of there is a plug socket close by. Have a look at how I got on.

Did you know you can make a (faux) pleated lampshade without using a sewing machine? I love how easy it was to make the shade. I think it took me less then an hour in total transforming the basic lampshade that was hiding in my cupboard into this cute vintage looking piece. The fabric I thrifted a while back so this lamp was a bargain! £8 for the USB light, £15 for the lamp base and £1 for the fabric.
