Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in DIY, interior and lifestyle. Hope you have a nice stay!

The lockdown has me shopping in my shed! It’s amazing how many things I can still make from all the leftover materials in there. In a way it is quite good I can’t go shopping :)

When Bosch asked me to make something from their All about DIY website section I thought that might be another good ‘shopping in my shed’ project. there are so many amazing tutorials and project ideas on their website there must be something on there I have the materials for. It didn’t take me long to see a build I absolutely loved, a ring toss game! Wouldn’t that be fun to have in the garden? A hand built game the whole family can enjoy, and something new to keep Kiki entertained with as we have played with every toy a thousand times by now.

I didn’t have all the materials I needed to make the exact same ring toss game so I adapted the tutorial slightly, I think I even made it easier for you to make! I also didn’t have rope to make the rings so I had to make my own, have a look at the video to see how I got on.

It is such a lovely addition to our garden games! I think Kermit rather enjoys playing with the rings too :) The whole game is made with materials I had left over from other projects and took me around 2 hours to make. For me the best bit is that it packs away easily so I can store it in the shed as our garden isn’t big enough to have all the games out all the time.

For the build I used the:

I also used:

  • 4 pallet wood planks

  • a 90 cm piece of 12mm dowel (a longer piece would be better)

  • wood glue

  • 12mm wood drill bit

  • hammer and nails

  • marker pens

  • tape measure

  • pencil

  • Zpagetti yarn from Hoooked (or any other thick yarn)

  • scissors

I love that little saw! It is so small you don’t think it can do much but the AdvancedCut 18 really packs in the power. Like I said in the video you can use it as a mini chain saw to cut branches of shrubs in your garden, it is great for freehand sawing but also cutting straight lines. My favourite part is that as it doesn’t cause any vibrations you don’t need to clamp your wood down, and it is really quiet. It makes not even half the noice of my jigsaw! As the battery fits in the saw, sander and drill it makes for super speedy crafting. I was rather impressed with the noice level of the sander too and the drill is super light to hold.

Not having any rope wasn’t a problem as it is very easy to make your own. You might remember my fabric twine tutorial from a few years back, it uses the same principle of twisting strands to make rope, have a look at that tutorial here. The Zpagetti yarn I had left over form making a rug came in use here as its thickness is great for making rope rings, you can use any thick yarn you have or otherwise use more than the 5 strands I used. When using a normal yarn maybe use 15 strands of 80 cm instead.

Let’s hope we have a lovely sunny summer so we can play lots of garden games! So far we have a mini bowling game (will post about that soon) and the ring toss game. Which other games shall I make? We had a croquet set when I was little and it was my absolute favourite, maybe I can make that one myself too!
