Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in DIY, interior and lifestyle. Hope you have a nice stay!

Tassel bag

Tassel bag

I was looking for a new handbag, something light and summery but I couldn't find anything I likes. Well I found one bag I liked but it came with a hefty price tag so I thought sure I can make one myself!

I went to my local haberdashery and bought some striped linen and a cotton fabric for the lining. I wanted something clashing in pattern and colour and found this great upholstery fabric in the bargain bin. Upholstery fabric is great for bag making as it's nice and sturdy. You also need some trim or tassels to decorate the bottom of your bag , some chain and depending on how you want to close the bag a zipper or big popper.

Have a look at the video below to see how I made the bag

That was super easy to make right? A perfect bag for summer! Like I said in the video though this isn't a bag for heavy books or laptops, the metal chain would really dig into your shoulder if it gets to heavy. But it's a super bag for carrying everyday things like your phone, sunglasses, magazine, wallet etc. If you want to make the bag simpler to construct then don't make the phone pocket, I do love having a special pocket in my bag though, just to keep my phone and train tickets in an easy to reach space.

What do you think of my tassel bag? Fancy making one yourself? What kind of fabrics would you use? I would love to see what you come up with!

I'll be back next week with a new tutorial, see you then! xx Hester
