Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in DIY, interior and lifestyle. Hope you have a nice stay!

Organise: make a felt basket

Organise: make a felt basket

January is all about organising here on Hester's Handmade Home and after showing you how you get your appointments organised with a week and year planner, this week it's all about keeping your office nice and tidy.

I love working with thick felt, you just cut and sew, no hemming or overlocking involved, couldn't be easier. You will have this basket made within 15 minutes and the best bit, you can make it in any size you need! Make the basket as deep as your bookcase for a nice streamlined effect, make a massive one to tidy away all your kids toys. Make a mini one to hold your jewellery or opt for a medium one to use as a desk tidy. When working in my office I keep all the bits I need in this basket so I have them close to hand but my desk stays organised.

For these baskets you need felt that is at least 2mm thick and synthetic felts are a lot cheaper then pure wool ones and are as nice to work with. I buy my felt online there are some great companies to be found on Amazon or if you're lucky your local fabric shop might have some in stock. My parents have an amazing shop just round the corner that sale any colour thick felt you can think of by the meter, heaven!! Might have to drive over with a truck next time ;)

Have a look at my video tutorial to see how easy it is to make your own.

Do you like keeping your desk organised? I would love to see your baskets in action.
