From the Furniture Hacks book: Make a magazine table

From today my book is available worldwide, whoop whoop!! :D You have seen little sneak peeks, short videos and an Instagram teaser here and there but from today you can walk in to your local bookstore and ask for Furniture Hacks!

The book has been a pretty quick process, I got commissioned last October and had to come up with 35 great furniture hacking ideas. I build all the projects while photographing every step and wrote the instructions. The lovely James Gardiner then shot all the designs and we had some great fun styling my house for the photo shoots. Editors Carmel and Gillian turned my scribbles into readable text and designer Geoff made a great layout. In February all the work was done and the book was ready to be printed and you can find all our hard work in stores from today!

One of my favourite crafts from the book is this magazine table made from a stack of old magazines, a perfect project for a magazine addict like me! Besides your old publications you also need some MDF, four swivel wheels and screws, paint, an old photo frame and some binding twine. Have a look at the video to see how you can make your own magazine stool.

These old magazines make a pretty handy side table and cause of its wheels it's easy to move around. Just be careful around children as the sharp edges of the glass top are not very child friendly.

If you like this make why not pick up my book Furniture Hacks, it's full of 34 other furniture hacking and up-cycle projects for your home. Available in any good book store and online for the UK click here and for the USA here (the US site have a pretty good deal on at the moment with 50% off!)

Do you love reading magazines as much as I do? Have you ever made anything out of your old reads? I would love to see your projects! Tweet me your builds and I will feature them on the website.

xx Hester
