Pumpkin carving with a difference
I'm not big on Halloween decorations, maybe cause I'm in the UK and don't have any trick or treating children but I hardly ever get spooky decorations out in October. I am slightly tempted to dress Kermit the Dog up in a fancy dress outfit though :D
But then I got an email from Ryobi and they challenged me to carve a pumpkin using one of their One Plus power tools. I love Ryobi and I love the One Plus tool range, you might have guessed that looking inside my workshop (if you missed the off grid workshop video have a look here) Power tools and pumpkins? That sounds intriguing! So off I went to the greengrocers to pick out some pumpkins!

I love the chrome pumpkins! Not only cause they look a bit more in keeping with my Nordic interior but also as they are slightly mirrored and reflect candle light. Who says stylish and Halloween can't go together? Little safety note I always use led lights inside pumpkins as they are way better to use then real tea candles. You can pick them up for peanuts in DIY or interior shops and you can leave your pumpkin lit even though you are not in the same room.
The chrome spray paint that I used on the pumpkins is a Rust-Oleum one and it's from their metallic range, I was impressed how good it covered. Only one coat and the whole pumpkin was coloured. I recon they pumpkins would look great in bronze or gold as well!
I love the Ryobi One Plus range as all the power tools work on batteries, perfect when you have a workshop without power sockets like my off grid workshop. Or for when you like to work where ever you fancy without having to worry about your power lead getting tangled up. The hot glue gun is one of the best ones I've worked with, it doesn't make your hand cramp up when you have to push the trigger for minutes at the time and it gives you just the right amount of glue. It definitely made decorating my pumpkin very easy!
