Make a doll pram from a basket
Don’t you just love those wicker doll prams you see all over Instagram, every lifestyle/baby influencer seems to have one. I thought one of them would make the perfect prop for a shoot I’m doing with Kiki but when I looked online I wasn’t so keen on the prams price tag, they go from £70 and up!
There must be a way I could make on myself…
Have a look at the video to see how I got on
Super cute right!! I love the flower handle with the grey tone basket and even better this doll pram is truly unique! So I didn’t end up using a wicker basket in the end but went for this plastic woven one cause I liked the colours so much. maybe this basket will be more durable in the long run too.
I did buy the basket but you can easily upcycle one you have lying around, the wheels make this DIY doll pram truly upcycled though
For the wheels I used four jar lids of 10cm wide, use very sturdy lids though as you don’t want them to break. Have a look in your grocery store for a lid that will make perfect wheels, you can always spray paint them if you don’t like the colour. Like I said in my video if you need a sturdier pram as you might be afraid your child will clime into the pram you might want to opt for specially made toy wheels. They are the same size but made with a rubber wheel making the build a little bit more robust.
The copper pipe makes for a perfect push bar, you can leave it bare for a more modern look or wrap it in ribbon, wool or like I did floral bias binding. I think little Kiki is pretty pleased with the new toy!
For this build you need:
a basket the right size for a pram (not too deep)
four lids/wheels 10cm wide
1 meter copper pipe 15mm
two 15mm elbow pieces
4x4 timber, I used scrap pieces
screws with a smooth top
5mm bolts with washers (small and large) and nuts
extra washers to round the screws and handle bolts
paint, I used Annie Sloan chalk paint in Graphite
floral bias binding/wool/ribbon
super glue, I used Gorilla Glue super glue gel
Let me know what you think of my latest toy make, would you make on yourself? i would love to see your builds!
